My name is Alex Boyko, I am a husband and father. I have been a Registered Social Worker since 2015. In the last few years I have focused on working with young people and adults with addictions and mental health problems. I have specialized in brain-based (bottom-up & top- down) & trauma-informed practices for anxiety, depression, trauma, and other mental health concerns.
I have worked with individuals and groups for a variety of issues including suicidality, psychiatric issues, emotional regulation, relationships, physical health problems and disabilities. I have experience working with homelessness, inter-partner violence, victims and perpetrators of crime/violence. I have helped people navigate through addictions for themselves and for their loved ones. The list goes on. I feel all these different experiences have allowed me to become a well-rounded therapist.
I have found a passion for helping people develop connection in their relationships and navigate difficult life experiences in order to find a sense of confidence, self-worth, and/or re-discover who they are.
My goal is to help you feel comfortable, safe, and connected. My approach to therapy is that we can have hard conversations and have fun while we do it. My clients appreciate my light humored approach. I have worked with people from a variety of walks of life and am excited to help you!
Where does Mindful Peak Therapy name come from?
Mindfulness is a practice of reflecting without judgement of our thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations. Ever since I was a kid, the mountains have always had a calming peacefulness for me. Sometimes when I feel overwhelmed I go to the mountains in my mind’s eye. This helps me ground myself and acknowledge what’s happening in the present….my “Mindful Peak”. I hope to help you find your mindful peak, whatever that may be.
